A Knock at the Door

Talked with a survivor shared a story shed some tears
After all the time and distance looked like he was living through those years
He was born in the early forties a childhood not easy to enjoy
Spent his days without security his worries a lot for a little boy

How could he have known what would be in store
That everything would change with A Knock at the Door...

Soldiers took all his belongings he was thrown onto a train
Without a word about his destination the sound of wheels on tracks echoes in his brain
The train arrived the sky was cloudy the air was filled with a burning smell
Children taken from their mothers standing outside the gates of hell

Once there was a town now it is no more
Everything can change with A Knock at the Door...
Used to have a family then there came a war
Everything can change with A Knock at the Door...

In the morn they’d count the living then he’d wait till he was fed
Soup and coffee full of sand and water seeing bodies hanging wishing he were dead
I remember that survivor how he took me through those years
He gave me more than just a story…

Everything can change with A Knock at the Door...
Everything can change with A Knock at the Door...

The Promised Land

My soul was there with Adam when the first rain fed the ground
When Cain murdered Able I’ll forever hear the sound
I built the arc with Noah I’m a witness to the flood
Traveled with Abraham leaving footprints in the mud

My spirit dwelled in Egypt in the body of a slave
I stood by the mountain it was there my soul was saved
I wandered in the desert my life in heavens hands
Then stood among my brothers once inside the promised land

I helped the build the temples and saw them both come down
I cherished my religion when the Romans took the crown
I said my prayer in silence and got through the first crusade
Cast out of France and England to be put to death in Spain

My soul returned to settle but the riots soon began
Sailed away from Russia to a beach of golden sand
While everyone was building I was kicking every stone
I’ve been to every nation I’m aching for my home in the promised land

My mind it knows the lessons of my people throughout time
My spirit carries wisdom from my teachers down the line
Been through all kinds of weather in this weary caravan
Please take me home forever to the promised land

IF I WERE SUPERMAN

If I were President, they'd put my face on a four-dollar bill
If I were King, my reign would rouse a thrill
If I were a Builder, I’d build forever If I were a Painter, I’d paint the day
If I were a Millionaire, I’d buy whatever caught my eye
And, if I were Superman...I’d fly.

If I were a Cowboy, I’d shoot the fastest gun
If I were a Runner, I’d make the longest run
If I were a Lion, I’d rule the jungle If I were a river, I’d flow in peace
If I were a Spaceman, I’d go to every star in the sky
And, if I were Superman...I’d fly.

But I’m just a kid from Brooklyn trying to keep my dreams alive
I don’t have a lot of money, but I always seem to get by
Maybe someday my luck will change; maybe I’ll make a plan
But, till that happens you’ve gotta understand...

If I were a General, I’d bring peace to every war
If I were Music, I’d play on every shore
If I were a Hero, I’d save the day if I were a poet I'd touch your soul
If I were a detective I’d solve the toughest crimes
And, if I were Superman...oh my   If I were Superman...I’d fly.

Through the Glass

Took a walk one winter day, the sky was cartoon blue
Sat down at the corner cafe for coffee and the view…stared out at the scene

Through the glass I watch the world as my thoughts go flying past
Every stranger that I see is a world away from me
And all these worlds are going by so fast
I’m just a stranger, a stranger, a stranger through the glass

Looking back on the years when I was someone else
Moved around a lot while I searched for myself
Sometimes you don't know what you have till you've lost what you've got
Sometimes you don't know who you are till you know who you're not

Through the glass I watch the world as my thoughts go flying past
Every stranger that I see is a world away from me
And all these worlds are going by so fast
I’m just a stranger, a stranger, a stranger through the glass

Through the glass I watch the world as my thoughts go flying past
Every stranger that I see is a world away from me
And all these worlds are going by so fast
I’m just a stranger, a stranger, a stranger through the glass…a stranger through the glass.

The Birds of Heaven

The only song I want to sing is from the birds of heaven
The birds of heaven are so pure and free
They get their power from the place of prophesy

The only words I want to hear are everlasting
Words that are deep and true words of prophesy

In the silence of the night there is music
Music brings you close music heals the soul
It can make your spirit fly from your body
Music sets you free music makes you whole…

The birds of heaven are so pure the birds of heaven are so free
They get their power from the place of prophesy

In the silence of the night there is music
Music brings you close music heals the soul
It can make your spirit fly from your body
Music sets you free music makes you whole…

An Understanding Heart

Searching in the dark, looking for a spark
A sign that someone’s there, an answer to a prayer

An understanding heart knows the end right from the start
It can bring you closer when you’re far apart

Living with a doubt what’s life about
A body and a soul, what should be my goal

An understanding heart knows the end right from the start
It can bring you closer when you’re far apart
An understanding heart knows the end right from the start
It can bring you closer when you’re far apart

Once I took a trip across the sea
That’s where the music was taking me
Met a man kind and wise
He opened up my eyes…

An understanding heart knows the end right from the start
It can bring you closer when you’re far apart
And if it there’s something missing in your being
An understanding heart will help you see it

The Thunder

One day if you’re shaken you’ll begin to see
When you’re reminded that you’re delicate and weak
The voice from one who has the fear will start to speak
Did you ever wonder what’s the purpose of the thunder?

When I tell you about the things I’ve heard
You say I’m crazy and don’t accept my words
It’s because your philosophy is absurd
Now your hearts torn asunder every time you hear the thunder

When I was a boy I didn’t know what was real
Living day to day doing what I feel
Thought I was a hero that I was made of steel
It was but a blunder that’s before I heard the thunder

Some people pray when their worries become great
Fall on their knees and hope it’s not too late
If only they’d remember that words would change their fate
And the burden that they’re under shattered by the thunder

One day if you’re shaken you’ll begin to see
When you’re reminded that you’re delicate and weak
The voice from one who has the fear will start to speak
Did you ever wonder what’s the purpose of thunder?

Save Me from My Own Disgrace

Why wait till I’m at the gate
To fear the Lord because He’s great
He’s watching now no time to wait
Put me in my place and save me from my own disgrace

The world is big and I’m so small
The end can come in a moments call
Better watch my step so I don’t fall
I could never show my face save me from my own disgrace

All the blood that’s in my veins
All the air my lungs contain
My arms and legs my heart and brain
Please don’t lay my soul to waste save me from my own disgrace

Why wait till I’m at the gate
To fear the Lord because He’s great
He’s watching now no time to wait
Put me in my place and save me from my own disgrace

Holy Soldier

Israeli soldier by the Western Wall a prayer book and a loaded gun
His head is covered he’s standing tall holy soldier in the sun
They took religion from his land and made a national holiday
Put the future in human hands, now he’s coming back to faith

Israeli soldier as a youth never taught the holy truth
Never heard the faithful speak that strength is rooted in belief
They stole religion from his heart but now he’s praying for his home
Takes the world to fall apart to put faith back into your bones…holy soldier, holy soldier

After the war no-one wanted to hear any-more
The lessons we gave our lives for were forgotten
We know this land is ours a promise was made to our fathers
And this house will be re-built one day…

Israeli soldier by the Western Wall Israeli soldier standing tall
A prayer book and a loaded gun holy soldier in the sun
They took religion from the land and put the future in his hands
Now he’s coming back to faith he kisses the wall and backs away

Click to listen to The Soul and the Rival

The Soul and the Riva

He came down from heaven a soul shining bright
One who had the power to bring others to the light
He was living peaceful calm as a flowing stream
So many people gathered around to find tranquility

The people that assembled were from all walks of life
From the city from the country from downtown to the heights
Some came to hear his wisdom others for advice
Simply being close to the righteous soul would raise their spirits high

There arose a rival who came to show his might
Said the righteous soul was just another fly by night
Throwing accusations that had no basis for belief
Caused the soul to lose his glow and suffer loads of grief

When they saw the bitter life the holy soul would spend
Many went back to their old ways and their city friends
The ones that stuck around were devoted in their hearts
They knew the soul was special and they didn’t want to part

Sometimes there is dissention that comes upon a man
And if this man is righteous you need to understand
Those who will forsake him who turn their backs and part
Were never quite sincere from the very start

He came down from heaven a soul shining bright
One who had the power to bring others to the light

Isaiah’s Grave

On the top of a Mountain in the shade of a stone sat a man named Isaiah he would ponder all alone
He saw the corruption that was on the ground the people had all strayed from a path that was sound

The world was going one way and he went the other going against the flow to take a stand
Turned his eyes to heaven and prayed with all his might for the courage and the wisdom to put things in the right

Didn’t reach the masses but he made a change you can see a flame on Isaiah’s grave
A message for the world to take to heart a fire from heaven setting him apart

He took a piece of wood and winds that he found in the marsh and made the first guitar
Started writing words of hope and put them to a tune then he began to croon

Singing to the young and old travelling day and night using all the passion he could drive
When he played his music he was taken higher and when the people heard him they would be inspired

Didn’t reach the masses but he made a change you can see a flame on Isaiah’s grave
A message for the world to take to heart a fire from heaven setting him apart
