It was the year 1995 when I wrote this song while looking out of the window of Dunkin Donuts on Ben Yehuda St.in Jerusalem, Israel. Writing songs in coffee shops is my favorite pastime.

Lyrics

In the Dark

I look around at all the different faces
Everyone’s a story on the street
A distant past in search of a future
A lonely soul that longs to be complete

I think about the path I’m pursuing
And how my heart is leading me around
It forces me to ask myself some questions
Should I move on or should I settle down

How do you know when you’re doing what you were born to do?
How do you know when you’ve found your soul mate?
So many times I was doing what I thought was right
Only to find I was really in the dark

I’ve listened to so many words of wisdom
Everyone has another point of view
I piled up so many contradictions
It’s hard to find the underlying truth

I think about the choices I’m making
Everyday it could be life or death
Sometimes I choose to step in the arena
Sometimes I choose to hide beneath the bed

How do you know when you’re doing what you were born to do?
How do you know when you’ve found your soul mate?
So many times I was doing what I thought was right
Only to find I was really in the dark
